I hope all the at-large candidates will participate. And I hope many of you and others attend or watch from home (if the sponsors make the audio/video available).

The broad panoply of environmental and land use issues deserves a lot more than one question at a more general forum or debate for county council candidates.

Thank you to the organizations sponsoring this June 13th forum, for providing an opportunity for voters to find out more about what council candidates think about these important issues than what can be conveyed in a two-minute response to one question.

Here is the email sent this morning to all the county council, at-large candidates.

Subject: Candidate Forum – Your Participation is Requested

Clean Water Fund, Climate Change Working Group, Friends of Frederick County, Green Frederick, Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, Potomac Conservancy, RALE and 1000 Friends of Maryland invite you to participate in a forum for Frederick County Council at-large candidates.

The forum will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at the Frederick Community College Conference Center. The doors will open at 6:00 PM and the program will begin promptly at 6:30 PM and end at 8:00 PM.

This forum is your opportunity to address environmental and smart growth issues of interest to voters, including climate change, forest protection, clean water and air, and how Frederick County grows. Each candidate will be asked to respond to questions developed by the host organizations. A table for campaign materials will be provided, but we ask that your campaign staff refrain from electioneering at the event.

To assist with our planning, please kindly let us know if you will be participating in the forum by sending an RSVP to kim@friendsofmd.org by 6 PM on Wednesday, June 6. Thank you.
